Private Lesson Grant Application

Current Fairbanks Youth Orchestras (FYO) members in Youth Symphony, Concert Orchestra, or String Orchestra are eligible to apply for a Private Lesson Grant. Current FYO members that were awarded a private lesson grant last year may also apply for a grant this year; however, a member that has been awarded a grant for the two previous years is not eligible this year.

The FYO Private Lesson Grant is intended to provide financial assistance to applicants who would like to further their musical development but for financial reasons either are not able to do so or can only do so under serious financial burden. One or more grants of up to $1,000 may be awarded. If awarded, the grants require the successful applicant to negotiate the lesson charges with a private teacher of their choice. The grant funds will not be awarded to the successful applicants, but instead will be paid directly to the private lesson teacher. The grant funds must be utilized between January and June of the season it is granted. At the end of that period, the grant award will expire and the funds will not longer be available to the applicant for expenditure.

Support of FYO activities*
Activities involved in the operation of the FYO require a considerable amount of involvement and commitment from the student musicians and their parents.
