From the FYO Volunteer Corner

Happy New Year, to you and yours!

Before I look ahead to what's coming our way in next few months I want to take a minute and thank all of the volunteers who have given their time and energy to FYO since auditions in the fall. I stopped counting at 300 hours and more than 70 parents and players. From late August through December, our volunteers worked hard- baked and sold over 1000 cookies, checked a few hundred coats, made sure FYO players had snacks every Saturday, and made time for week-end fund-raising events(at least 4, that wouldn't have happened without musicians to play, and parents to bring them). And that's just some of what went on behind the scenes. So many people are touched by the music that FYO makes. Whether it's a Saturday morning rehearsal, a special event like Friendship Day, or a concert from the stage of our own Davis Hall, that's a gift of the greatest kind. When you volunteer with us, you help to make that happen. I'm hoping you already knew that. Just in case you didn't, now you do. Thanks again, so very much.
Rehearsals begin again this Saturday, and before long we will be baking cookies and running the coat check for another FSO concert. Zuill Bailey returns for Valentine's Day with Eduard Zilberkant and friends, and it is sure to be a lot of fun and a great way to spend a special Thursday evening.
Karen Pyne is our cookie coordinator and contacts everyone the week of the concert you have signed up for. I know that some like to be able to check the website ahead of time, so I will work to list names in advance, and Karen will continue to notify you closer to the event. So, for Feb. 13:
Sellers are Holly Barnett and Angela Larson.
Bakers are: Carol Barnett, Amy Zacheis, Sandra Hopkins, Katie Barber, Angela Larson, Trina Canter Beauchamp, Laura Calhoun, and Kelly Max.
Remember to bring your baked goods 30 to 45 minutes before the show, mark your plate if you want to keep it, and if you choose to bake something for those with special dietary needs, please make a note for it. For our Sunday afternoon
concerts you can leave the treats on Saturday, at rehearsal, in case you are not coming back for the concert on Sunday. Just wrap it really well to keep it fresh (and our hands out).
If you have questions about something you've signed up to volunteer for, or would like to volunteer for, please contact me at your convenience. I would love to work with you, and have you , your good energy and great ideas, on board.

Most sincerely,

KimAdelia Leff, FYO volunteer coordinator
